Android and iPhone Surge, Windows Mobile Sag


Gartner has just published its market research related to the global smartphone sales in the first quarter of this year 2010. From the results of these studies seen some change in trend from the same period last year.

Android becomes the platform with the largest share of growth, from 1.6 percent (575.3 thousand units) in the last year to 9.6 percent (5.2147 million units) in the year 2010 this. This makes Android to higher ranked fourth globally, shifts the Windows Mobile and Linux.

Symbian-based smartphone is still the most preferred (24 million units) with a share of 44.3 percent because the price is more affordable than its competitors. RIM BlackBerry ranked second with sales of 10.55 million units (19.4 percent), while the iPhone remains in third position despite experiencing a significant increase in sales to 8.35 million units from just 3.84 million units in the same period last year ago.

From a count of the years, the share of Nokia looks down 4.5 percent, down 1.2 percent RIM, Apple rose 4.9 percent, Android jumped 8 percent, while Windows Mobile fell 3.4 percent. While globally, the share of mobile phones rose 17 percent compared to last year with a drastic increase in sales of smartphones as much as 49 percent from January through March 2010.
